When a Roblox player outside of Mainland China attempts to join a Chinese Roblox server, they will get Error Code 524 (You do not have permission to join this experience).The experience still exists as of July 2023. Note that the information for the experience says it was created in December 2018, well before the launch of Luobu. Various Luobu formatted usernames on a leaderboard, as seen in 模拟矿工 (Mining Simulator China). 2.2 "Opening of Luobu's "Endless Worlds" event.This potentially showed that Roblox either gave up on the project, on which much time had been spent, or they had other plans for LuoBu. On July 17, 2022, Roblox reportedly terminated all of the 5 million+ Luobu accounts. It is currently unknown when Luobu will return. WeChat and QQ accounts that participated in the testing are qualified to receive rewards once Luobu is officially released in a permanent form. The initial launch of Luobu was explained to be a testing session, with Roblox spokesperson James Kay noting that "a number of important transitory actions are necessary" as a new version of Luobu is built. A post was made on the Luobu website announcing this, thanking players for helping test and stating that the product will continue to be optimized for the time being.
On December 8, 2021, Luobu was shut down indefinitely. Development live-streams and contests are hosted on the account. Roblox owns an account on Bilibili, a Chinese video-sharing website similar to YouTube. Roblox's Chinese website explained that the release of the platform would focus heavily on collaborations with schools and educators, and it was touted as a potential educational tool for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students. A Chinese version of Roblox Studio was downloadable prior to this. Luobu was released as a mobile app for iOS and Android on July 13, 2021, alongside the official release of the Nezha Obby Event.
Luobu (Simplified Chinese: 罗布乐思 Luóbùlèsī officially shortened to Luobu ), also known as Roblox China, was the Mainland China version of Roblox.
